Of the two Moai in the collection, this one smiles. The face is simple and architectural: a long rectangular nose, two horizontal eyes, and a curved upward mouth that suggests satisfaction rather than joy. The expression is subtle enough to work in serious interiors while still adding character to the shelf it occupies.

The body is wide and dome-shaped with a flat base and a hollow interior accessible through the top opening. The surface carries a pitted, cratered texture that fires into the ceramic during the kiln process, giving the impression of weathered volcanic rock. The off-white glaze fills the low points while leaving the raised texture slightly exposed, creating a depth of shadow that shifts as light moves through the day.

Dimensions

Approximately 18 cm tall and 16 cm wide. The wide base makes it one of the more stable pieces in the planter range, sitting solidly without risk of tipping. The opening at the top fits a small nursery pot up to 10 cm in diameter, or use it to arrange a cluster of dried stems, air plants, or moss with no liner required.

Planting Options

The hollow top accommodates compact succulents, cacti, and air plants without needing a full soil setup. For a more dramatic look, place a single trailing pothos in a liner pot and let the vines run down the face and onto the shelf surface.
